Support Groups: We facilitate periodic support groups for Mom’s, Dad’s Pregnancy after PPD (Postpartum Depression, and a Pregnancy group that focuses on the whole spectrum of mood changes during pregnancy and planning for the postpartum period.
Hotline: AMS has a 24/7 hotline available to any Mom or family member who is in crisis.
Partnerships with the Yates Children Memorial Fund Advisory Committee, Postpartum Support International (PSI), Postpartum Progress (PPI), and Mental Health America of Greater Houston.
Training: AMS is available to hospitals and OB/GYN offices, faith based organizations, first responders, and anyone who needs to know about pregnancy related mental illness.
Mental Health First Aid: This course is designed for non-mental health professionals. Introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understand of their impact and overviews common treatments. This 8-hour course uses role playing and simulation to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis, select interventions and provide initial help and connect persons to professional, peer, social and self-help care. It also teaches about the risk factors, and warning signs of specific illnesses. Mental Health First Aid is the initial help given to someone who may be developing a mental illness or is experiencing a mental health crisis, possibly stabilizing the person until professional assistance can be engaged.
Hurricane Harvey Relief: Hurricane Harvey created a traumatic environment for Moms who were already suffering. With the help of many community partners, AMS, has been able to support families that have been affected by Harvey.
